“Do you ever find that you’re attracted to women?”
The slapping is such a great parallel to 107. So many great parallels in this episode.
The ending scene and credits to the Girls episode entitled “All Adventurous Women Do.”
To put this into context, Lena Dunham’s character, Hannah, becomes unemployed, is in a negative relationship, learns her ex-boyfriend of two years is gay, and is diagnosed with HPV.
I feel like a lot of people my age living in the current era can relate to this scene- even in the slightest- because we’ve all been in a situation where hopelessness or feelings that the world is against us have taken over our consciousness.
But rather than sulk in misery, Hannah, decides to pick her shit up and face her challenges head on. The use of the song Dancing On My Own by Robyn also helps convey the message of “getting back up after you’ve fallen down.” I think this is exactly what we need to do when life throws us a curve ball: make the best of the situation and live each day to the fullest. And, of course, having a friend to help you along your journey doesn’t hurt.
All adventurous women (And men!) do.
